RE: Dynamics GP 13 and display changes for eye sight issues

Getting them onto the webclient may help from a font scaling point of view, but not certain about the background.

RE: Dynamics GP 2015 APPCRASH

If you are an end user, then I think you need to bring your partner into this, if this happens on a regular basis.

The above message is not enough to diagnose the issue, there may be other events in the application event log or other event logs on the machine in question.

It may be necessary to turn on additional error logging to track the issue down, a more involved process than a forum answer can help with.

GP Power Tools might be able to help. You can change the colours on a company basis to something that works better with Windows high contrast mode but is still good for normal users.

I will also look at offering per user settings for VI users in a future build.

Hi David,

I was wondering about using the power tools as I have used them in the past, but wasn't sure they would help on the home page.  Can these be installed and tested in Fabrikam without keys?

Thanks,

Althea

How do I Intagrate a new company's restored database into GP2016

We upgraded from GP2013 to GP2016 a few months ago, we also did a purge on GP2013.  Now I would like to make the Archived GP2013 data available as another company (ARC) in GP2016.

Without going into great details, I created the new company (ARC) in GP2013, backed up the ARC database using SQL 2012, and restored ARC database to GP2016 using SQL 2016 without issues.

The question now is how to get GP2016 to recognize ARC as a new company and upgrade it to 2016?

Thank you in advance for any and all suggestions.

You can use without keys if the sample company is only company Installed. Otherwise just install and start a free 30 day trial.

I will look at what is needed to make GP better for VI.

At this stage it does not help for home page, but I might have a solution for that... Need to do some testing.

Just found out his main issue is when typing data into fields.  The background is darker so he cannot see the dark text he is typing in.  I am going to download and test if we can make field backgrounds lighter and only for one user.  Or text lighter for only one user.  Thanks!

Our customer has an eye sight issue that requires them to change their windows settings to high contrast theme.  In turn, this changes the backgrounds in GP but the text stays the same so when he types, he cannot see the font.  It is the same color as the background.

How do we offer a solution to a user with an eye sight impairment that requires this setting?  Any guidance is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Althea

Hi,

I am planning to upgrade GP from GP2013 SP2 to GP2015 R2.  I installed GP 2015 latest update and service pack. But I got below error.  Can I upgrade GP from GP2013 SP2 to GP2015 R2 directly.  Do I have to update latest service pack of GP 2013 before installing GP 2015.  Should I do first GP2013 SP2 to GP2015 then GP2015 R2.  kindly provide solution.

It currently does not have a single user mode, unless you turn colour themes on and then disable all other users.

I am looking to making it more VI friendly next build. This would include per user settings.

Changing Account Format

Hi,

We are currently using GP 2013 and have a query on changing account format of our CoA. Our existing account codes have 3 segments as XXX-XXX-XXXX (total length of 10)

Due to business needs, we would like to increase the length of our second segment from 3 to 4.

1) If I change it to 4, can I still keep my existing segments as 3; I will only create some special departments with a length of 4

2) Assuming the above is ok, do I need to run the PSTL tool?  As I don't want to restate the existing transactions posted, I don't think I will need to?

Thanks!!

You are right. Some had them and some did not. After changing that setting, I can see it.  Looking at the contents of the file, it looks different than the one in production (old servers).

RE: Econnect to Test and Production

I would think... that microsoft would have allowed for that... needing a test / prod econnect setup

so that processes can be tested

you would think... that it would just need an extra entry in the config file

<add key="eConnect.BackOffice.ConnectionString" value="data source=greatplains;initial catalog=ABC;integrated security=SSPI;persist security info=False;packet size=4096" />
<add key="eConnect.Incoming_Queue" value="GPSRV\Private$\econnect_incoming12" />
<add key="eConnect.Transactional_deadletter_Queue" value="1" />
<add key="eConnect.Schema.Type" value="" />
<add key="eConnect.Schema" value="" />
<add key="eConnect.LogAll" value="1" />
<add key="eConnect.Threads" value="0" />

RE: Project Time and Expense Approve under Navigation List

The only solution we have found in GP2016R2 is to make the approvers also delegates. Then they can see the submitted transactions to approve them. With hundreds of users this is cumbersome and defeats the workflow  step configuration as it has to be double maintained.

There is a bug number from Microsoft on this: quality issue 90077 which is marked to be fixed with the release of GP 2018 R2 (estimated timeframe Mid October).

I cannot confirm if it was fixed in GP2018R2 but it was not fixed in GP2016R2

Project Time and Expense Approve under Navigation List

Hi,

We are currently testing GP2016 R2. On the Project Time and Expense Panel on the Homepage, the approver cannot view how much expense reports are lying to approve, similarly under navigation list of PTE Expenses, no expenses appears, below is image for reference.

On the other hand, the sumbitter can view information at both areas, as below image.

Regards.

RE: How do I Intagrate a new company's restored database into GP2016

Hi OldCityCat

Typical solution would be as follow:

1- install the old environment on a separate server (SQL 2012 and Dynamics GP 2013) , also create the ARC company from the GP utilities and restore your backup on it.

2- Upgrade the SQL to 2016

3- Upgrade GP 2013 to GP 2016

4- take a backup from the ARC company

5- Go to the live server and Create the ARC Company from GP utilities

6- restore the backup taken from the upgraded environment to the live environment.

The thing is you must upgrade the Company Database from the Dynamics GP 2013 to GP 2016, if you restored it without upgrading it wont work and will generate errors.

Thanks and Regards,

Thank you Tim. I am not seeing this file in my new server's C drive.

I found the following DIC files, that I think need to be moved over.

  EXP1493F.DIC,

  FORMS.DIC

  NCLF2429.DIC,

  R309.DIC,

I moved these files over.   That didn't do the trick but, may have resolved a future issue.
