Mass Inactivate/Reactivate not showing GP2018 R2

I saw another question on this but not a resolution - on a fresh install of GP2018 R2 the Inactivate/Reactive buttons show in the Navigation pane, but they are not showing when an instance of GP2018 is upgraded to GP2018 R2 - any suggestions?

Thanks!

RE: Using RD Web on 2012 server to publish GP getting dexterity runtime access error

This is most definitely a permissions issue on the RDS server.

We create a GP Users group and give them full control to the GP folder on the RDS server.

For anyone getting the Dexterity Runtime Window asking for a startup file in RDS, please add the "Dynamics.set" file in the parameters field for always run this command line parameter.

Hope this helps

Using RD Web on 2012 server to publish GP getting dexterity runtime access error

Hi there.  Hopefully what I post here makes sense and I don't know if I'm putting the question in the correct area.

I have a 2012 server running dynamics gp 2013.  I have created RD web apps and am accessing GP through our web app webpage.  When I go to the website https://server.mydomain.com/rdweb I am able to see the app I publish.  Then I click on the app and it asks me to login.  I login with administrator and it go right into GP without issue.  When I login with a different user (that user has RD access as well as is in administrator group), I get a Dexterity Runtime dialog box with the error of "you dont have permissions to open this file.  I have created the collection and have added users in the security of the collection as well as the published app.  I'm not sure where else to look because I'm not sure how many people are using published apps with GP13 and a 2012 server.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I tested an upgrade from 18.00.0496 which is pre GP 2018 R2 to 18.00.0628 which is R2 for Dynamics GP 2018.

I looked at all the navigation lists included in this new functionality:

--Accounts and Checkbooks lists under Financial,

--Customers list under Sales

--Vendors under Purchasing

--Items under Inventory

--Employees under HR & Payroll

Financial > Accounts didn't have the functionality while Financial > Checkbooks did. (Inactivate/Reactivate options in Modify menu)

Sales > Customer does.

Purchasing > Vendors did not.

Inventory > Items did not.

HR & Payroll > Employees did.

I checked resources here and found that we're actually investigating this issue as we've seen it occur in some upgrade paths but not others and trying to determine what the exact cause is and a potential work-around if it can't be fixed in the code outright.

Hopefully we'll have some type of work-around available soon.

Thank you

Report Form Clarifications

I have modified a RM Statement - Long Form.  The client asked a question I am not sure I can answer correctly.  They asked if it was sill on an 8.5 x 11 paper.  Logical question I guess they assumed it was 14 inches versus 11 inches.  Can anyone clarify the reason for the "long" in the description?  I really don't know if I understand the difference between all the available firms outside of the fact some are graphical and some are text.  If anyone has a good resource that explains this I would love to review it and share with the client.

Thank you,

Dawn

Mahmoud - we are using the Intercompany transfer and when we go to the Destination company we need to change the account numbers on the assets.  When I changed an account number and went to save it I received this message: This record has been changed since you opened this window. Changes won't be saved.  Have you ever come across this and if so how do we fix this.

Projects in Progress report

We are having some problems using the projects in progress report to reconcile the WIP account.   Is anyone else having this problem and have you found a work around or a better report?  The issue is:

The Cost & Est. Earnings in Excess of Billings and the Billings in Excess of Costs & Est. Earning show just the value from postings in the month being reported – it does not show the value from inception to the month being reported.

I did notice the that header above those two columns states “AT mm/dd/yyyy” so GP may say that is how the report is intended to work – The preceeding columns have the header “From Inception to mm/dd/yyyy”.  But mixing the two time periods does not make sense and causes the report to be misleading.

oh.. now that's some gold here.

Indeed, eventhough we had tools/option database.. the real database was completely different  in the Help Menu.

Thanks a million.

RE: Procedure trigger registration errors after installing Manufacturing

Perry,

Have you entered the registration key for Manufacturing yet, after installing the module?

We used to see the POP_POLine/SetAcctID error back in the GP 10.0 / GP 2010 versions when Manufacturing was installed. I couldn't find anything on the other two errors. If you haven't already done so, enter the Manufacturing registration key(s), then log out and back into Dynamics GP to see if these errors remain or not.

Otherwise, do you have any third-party products or dexterity customizations currently installed for Dynamics GP? If so, if we remove them from the environment, specifically if you install a brand, new install of Dynamics GP without these third-parties or customizations, but with Manufacturing installed, then attempt to login, do you still get the same errors?

If not, then add back the third-parties and/or customizations one by one, testing after each one, until the errors appear again.

Thanks,

Hi, im upgrading to GP2018 and want to do it in a Terminal Services environment as opposed to individual PC install.

Can someone point me to a white paper for GP2018 in a TS environment? I want to set this up properly the first time around.

Thank you, shamoo

Hi Japheth,

Thanks for the details of the issue. I have several questions for you to help with the problem you encountered. Please review the following:

1. Are you using Management Reporter? If so, what is the full version number?

2. When you start Management Reporter, do you start it as Administrator?

3. Which viewer are you using for MR: the Report Viewer (desktop client) or the web viewer?

4. If using the web viewer to view MR reports, which browser are you using? Also what is the full browser version number?

5. Start Dynamics GP and the viewer you use for MR reports. Then open the Windows Task Manager and switch to the Details tab. Task Manager has a column called "Elevated" so you can see which processes are running as administrator. To enable the Elevated column, right click on any existing column and click Select columns. Check the one called "Elevated", and click OK. What shows in this column for Dynamics GP and the MR viewer being used?

6. What is the full Dynamics GP version being used?

7. Does the same issue occur on other workstations?

8. Does the same issue occur for other domain users on the same workstation?

9. If you login to another workstation with your domain account, does the same issue happen?

Thanks!

Drillback to GP doesn't work unless GP is started using "Run as administrator"

I have a machine in our enviroment where drillback to GP doesn't work unless GP is started using "Run as Administrator". Any ideas how to fix that?

If I don't run GP as administrator, I get the infamous error. "A connection Microsoft Dynamics GP could not be established.  Be sure that you are logged on to the appropriate company and try again."

Thanks Derek,

I did register Manufacturing.  I will double check it.

Removing ISV and customization's was my next step.

We are adding Manufacturing to an existing GP 2010 system.

Utilities created all of the tables, etc fine.  When we log into GP we get the following 3 errors:

I know this is some kind of issue with dex code.

Has anyone else seen this?

Thanks

Is the application you are drilling from being ran as administrator?

If that is the case, there may be a permissions mismatch between the two applications.

It may also be helpful to do a uninstall-reinstall, just as a blanket reset.

Tim.
