Analytical Accounting

We currently use GP2015 and MR for our reporting.

Our CEO is requesting a change in our reporting structure so that we have additional layers (dimensions) of information for his review.

We use a proprietary CRM system to enter all our accounting information which feeds into GP for reporting purposes.  We also use GP to pay our vendors.  (Mekorma)

Our IT Director has researched a few options in order to give our CEO what he is requesting and one of these options is Analytical Accounting.

Changing our account segments is a very last resort as we would have to change the CRM system as well and given the possibilities of future changes in regions, ect. we feel this isn't the best choice.

I spoke with one of the consultants from our partner and she didn't seem too supportive of Analytical Accounting.  I'd love to hear some thoughts and experiences from others......

Our current structure is:

Division (1 digit)-Master (4 digit)-Office (3 digit)-Install Type (2 digit)

(example:  1-5000-101-11 represents Residential/COGS/Office 101-Carpet)

The CEO wants it further broken down to represent our Eastern and Western Divisions (as well as future expansion) and to also be able to view by Regional Managers, etc.  These divisions and regions are subject to change at any given time depending on performance and manager changes. (ugh!)

Thanks in advance for your help!
